HAL selling four ships
Carnival Corp owned Holland America Line has announced that four ships are leaving the fleet.
It will say farewell to the Rotterdam and the Amsterdam, which are being sold to Norway based firm company Bonheur.
They will then join Fred Olsen Cruises in the UK and will be renamed Bolette and Borealis.
HAL ships Maasdam, and Veendam are being sold to another unnamed buyer.
"It’s always difficult to see any ship leave the fleet, however, Holland America Line has a bright future ahead that includes recent Pinnacle-Class additions, with a third sister ship next year that will continue to maintain our overall capacity in the marketplace," said Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group and Carnival UK.
These four ships are the line’s oldest and smallest vessels.
The sell-off will result in some cancellations or rescheduled cruises on other ships.
This includes the 2021 Grand World Voyage on Amsterdam which is pushed to 2022 and will be now aboard Zaandam.
Guests with bookings for future sailings on the affected ships will be notified soon.
Carnival Corp. announced recently that it plans to sell or scrap 13 ships in total across its various brands.
