Thomas Cook Airlines claims the abolition of under 12s APD led to a 199% increase in long haul searches on Boxing Day.
Christoph Debus, chief air travel officer for Thomas Cook Group said: "The abolition of APD for the under 12’s for next summer is clearly influencing where people are looking too, with huge increases in those looking for long haul breaks."
Its top five Boxing Day search destinations were Dalaman, Tenerife, Orlando, New York and Las Vegas.
Thomson and First Choice reported Tenerife as the most searched for destination followed by Greece, Cyprus and Goa.
Andrew Flintham, commercial director for Thomson and First Choice said: "For the majority, time off over the festive period with our families gives us the chance to search for a holiday to look forward to."
