Harmony of the Seas to homeport at Port Everglades
The world’s next largest ship afloat will make Port Everglades home when it launches next year.
Royal Caribbean’s 5,479 passenger Harmony of the Seas will launch in April next year.
The actual date of arrival in Fort Lauderdale will be revealed next week, a Royal Caribbean spokesman said.
"Harmony of the Seas is music to my ears. It is always exciting to get a new cruise ship arriving to Port Everglades, especially the newest, largest cruise ship in the world," said Steve Cernak, chief executive and port director at Port Everglades.
Details of the cruise line’s 2016/2017 deployment were announced which will also see Allure of the Seas sailing from Port Everglades on seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises.
Meanwhile sister ship Oasis of the Seas will head north to Port Canaveral for the winter of 2016.
Three other Royal Caribbean ships will sail from Port Everglades during next winter – Independence of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas.
