Hertz continues suburban expansion

Hertz, the largest auto rental agency at US airports, plans to open about 55 Hertz Local Edition sites within the next two months.

The company says it is making the move to continue its commitment to suburban expansion.

Hertz has opened more than 800 locations in the US suburban market over the past three years. It now has 1,300 Hertz suburban locations across the US. The majority offer both pick up and drop off services.

More than 200 Hertz Local Ediction locations have been opened this year alone, the company said.

Hertz recently added several new locations in the Atlanta suburban area, its no. 2 airport market. The company also has expansion plans for Chicago, its sixth largest airport market.

The company estiamtes 20% of its rentals are for business purposes, with the remainder split between leisure and replacement rentals.

Among Hertz services are 24/7 emergency service and discounts for AAA members.
