Hilton guests’ credit card details stolen
Guests of Hilton Worldwide are being advised to check their credit and debit card statements after the hotel chain admitted hackers had breached its security systems.
It admitted that malware had got into its point of sale system between November 18 and December 5 last year and between April 21 and July 27 this year.
The company has not revealed which hotels might have been affected, but it is urging all customers to check their payment card statements.
The malware was able to steal customers’ names, credit card numbers, security codes and card expiry dates, but it didn’t manage to lift their PINs. Home addresses were also kept safe, said Hilton.
