Holidaymakers warned of approaching cyclone
Visitors to eastern China, South Korea and southern Japan are being warned that the region could be hit by a cyclone later this week.
It is expected to bring heavy rain, gusty winds and flooding from Friday and into the weekend.
Current forecasts are for a cyclone developing to the east of the Philippines to move northwest, tracking between Taiwan and Okinawa from Thursday into Friday before advancing further northwest over the weekend.
A second tropical storm, Halong, is developing to the east of Guam, which could hit Japan with heavy rain and damaging winds next week.
"As this cyclone tracks northward late this week and early next week, the potential exists for rapid strengthening and a Halong could become a very dangerous and powerful typhoon prior to reaching Japan," said US-based AccuWeather.com.
