Home of Alamo a hotspot for leisure travel
Recent figures show San Antonio’s share of overnight leisure travel was 0.81%, which ranks the city No.10 in the top 10 cities for overnight leisure travel in the US.
There were 21.3 million visitors to the city known for the Alamo last year, with 9.1 million of them staying overnight. Those numbers were also 7% higher than 2002.
Visitors mentioned as favorite places the area’s theme parks, historic sites, sightseeing and shopping.
The vast majority, or more than 80%, of the area’s visitors came from Texas, Okalahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. More than three-quarters came from Texas.
The San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau released the latest numbers, which were supplied from data by D. K. Schiffler & Associates.
