Honeymooning cruisers in tragic zip-lining accident
A honeymooning cruising couple had a tragic accident zip-lining which left one dead and the other seriously injured.
The Israeli couple were zip-lining in Roatan, Honduras, during a port call on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas.
The wife was seriously injured after getting stuck on the line when her new husband slammed into her, according to Wilmer Guerrero, commander of the Roatan Fire Department.
Honduran media outlets named them as 24-year-old Egael Tishman and wife Shif Fanken, 27.
Guerrero said both were conscious but suffering various injuries when they arrived at hospital.
"The young man complained that he could not breathe. He was evaluated in the ambulance and was given oxygen."
He later died in hospital.
Fanken was airlifted to the US where she underwent surgery and was in stable condition, Guerrero said.
Local authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident.
The cruise line says it is ‘providing support and assistance to the guests’ family and friends.’
