United to induct 250 new planes over next two years

United Airlines says it will welcome more than 250 new planes to its fleet within the next two years.

The major fleet refresh sees 100 ‘Coastliner’ Airbus A321 and A321XLR jets join to replace its aging Boeing 757s.

Some of these will start flying later in 2026.

The A321XLR offer 32 premium seats, double the number compared to the 757s.

United will also welcome the CRJ450 regional jet to be operated by SkyWest out of Denver and Chicago starting later this year.

The first of United’s new 787-9 Dreamliners are set to start flying next month fitted with the new United Polaris Studio comprising lie-flat, all-aisle access seats.

United CEO Scott Kirby said. “Today we accelerate our plans and elevate our offerings to the next level, creating an even more consistent, premium onboard experience for every customer.”
