Hoseasons ‘averaging 1,000 calls an hour’
Self-catering operator Hoseasons has claimed an “unprecedented” level of late bookings.
The company has seen a surge in interest in short breaks that don’t involve flying.
As a result, the operator expects its busiest Bank Holiday weekend in more than 60 years of trading.
Hoseasons says the combination of exceptionally hot weather in July, the World Cup and changes in booking patterns with holidaymakers leaving the plans to the last minute, has resulted in an increase in UK bookings throughout the whole summer period and into autumn.
Chief executive Richard Carrick said: “Availability right across the UK in cottages, boats, parks and lodges is being snapped up at a fantastic rate and we are currently averaging over 1,000 calls and web visits per hour – one every 3.5 seconds – as people are desperate to have a UK break this weekend.
“A combination of circumstances this summer has resulted in a real interest in UK holidays and we hope that the interest we are currently seeing will be replicated next year as more people rediscover the delights of a UK break.”
