Hotel offers first charm school
Their first charm school sold out in a week, so the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach has scheduled two more of these apparently unique programs for youngsters.
“It’s not the “use this fork, put your napkin here-type etiquette, but instead about manners, courtesy, communication and simple, memorable tools they can use throughout their lives and into the business world…. and it doesn’t break the bank,” said a pr consultant for the hotel.
The half-day programs teaches teen girls poise, etiquette, healthy cooking, makeovers with Benefit cosmetics and choreography by Miami HEAT dancers. They are designed for teen girls 13 to 18.
Open to hotel guests and the public, the half-day, five hour charm school (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) is limited to 15 young ladies per class for maximum attention. The cost is US$175, which includes the entire curriculum outlined below. There are programs in November and December.
Other subjects covered in the classes include “a page out of The Ritz-Carlton handbook to impart awareness about conducting oneself as a lady, creating positive first impressions, greeting guests and making them feel welcome, using proper telephone etiquette and appropriate vocabulary, practicing good posture, enhancing a simple yes or no response, remembering the all-important Thank You note and imparting overall positivity.”
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is a complete restoration of the original 1953 Morris Lapidus-designed DiLido hotel in the historic Art Deco district. Known as a hotel “where the action meets the ocean,” its highlights include an elevated ocean-view pool deck, a multi-million dollar art collection and what is said to be the “world’s only Tanning Butler.”
