HotelPlanner teams up with Greenview for sustainable meetings
Global group booking online sites HotelPlanner and Meetings.com are advancing their corporate responsibility and sustainability efforts by partnering with Greenview.
The tie-up allows travellers and meeting planners to select a sustainable meeting option through the two platforms at no additional cost, and it directly supports an initiative to protect and restore rainforests in Indonesia.
These venues have proved their sustainable credentials by eliminating bottled water and other single-use plastics, provide locally sourced and vegetarian menus and have energy-efficient lighting and power settings, among other benefits.
The program will launch in 2020.
Greenview offers an advisory service to hospitality organisations keen to enhance their corporate responsibility and sustainability platforms. It helps companies effectively communicate their progress to stakeholders.
It has offices in Singapore and New York.
"Most hotels are already tackling issues of plastic use, waste and energy efficiency," said Eric Ricaurte, founder and CEO of Greenview.
"Climate change is our number one global issue, and by bringing together the right partners at scale, we can contribute in a meaningful and credible way. The program with HotelPlanner and Meetings.com catalyses these efforts."
Through the two platforms’ Preferred Membership option partner hotels can earn a ‘green’ distinction by committing to plastic and waste reduction, energy efficiency and sourcing products responsibly.
HotelPlanner and Meetings.com plans to offset the greenhouse gas emissions from all room nights and venue hire by funding a program to help restore rainforests in Indonesia.
"We want it to be clear for those who book on our sites, by assuring them that their hotel stay and meeting will help fight climate change." said Tim Hentschel, co-founder and CEO of HotelPlanner and co-founder of Meetings.com.
The Indonesian conservation project is specific to Southeast Asia, but will be offered as a default for all bookings with respective Preferred Members of HotelPlanner and Meetings.com.
