Hyatt Place to debut in Malaysia in 2019

Hyatt Hotels Corp has signed an agreement to debut the Hyatt Place brand in Malaysia in late 2019.

A management agreement has been signed with Eosh Properties for Hyatt Place Melaka Gateway, and the 25-storey hotel forms a key element of the new Melaka Gateway mixed use development.

The development comprises three reclaimed islands overlooking the city of Melaka which will feature residential units, retail space, a convention centre, a cruise terminal and a 100-metre high ferris wheel.

The development is being built by KAJ Development, parent of Eosh Properties, and is expected to be completed by 2025.

"The opening of this hotel will mark a significant milestone for Hyatt as the Hyatt Place brand continues to expand worldwide and offer more choices to our guests in key gateway cities," David Udell, Hyatt’s group president for Asia Pacific.

Hotel amenities include a rooftop swimming pool and 250 metres of function space.

"We believe the Hyatt Place brand will be an excellent addition to Melaka Gateway, and will nicely complement the overall development for the area," said Michelle Ong, CEO of KAJ Development.
