Iberia’s low-cost airline, Clickair, will launch in October
Iberia’s part-owned low-fares airline has been named Clickair and will launch in October.
Initially operating three A320 aircraft out of its Barcelona hub, it will fly to 12 destinations – Amsterdam, Dublin, Geneva, Zurich, Prague, Lisbon, Oporto, Moscow, Bilbao, Malaga, Seville and Valencia.
The airline plans to add extra aircraft each month so that by the end of 2008 it will have 30 aircraft flying to a host of other destinations.
A spokesman said it could not reveal at this stage which destinations these would be.
With five owners, including Iberia, Clickair will only fly to the main airports in the destinations it serves.
Some flights will operate on an Iberia codeshare and holders of Iberia’s loyalty cards will be able to use their points on Clickair.
Most bookings are expected to come direct via its website, www.clickair.com, but the spokesman said bookings for the codeshare flight will be bookable by agents through the global distribution systems.
There will be no pre-allocated seating or refreshments served on board but cabin crew will sell duty free goods plus train, theatre and attraction tickets.
