Iceland Express to launch flights from Gatwick
Iceland Express is adding a Gatwick service to complement its Stansted flights for winter 2008.
From September 16, it will start flying five times a week between London Gatwick and Reykjavik, in addition to its daily service from London Stansted.
The new Gatwick flights will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, departing Gatwick at 2100 and arriving at Keflavik International Airport at 2300.
The return flights leave Keflavik at 1605, arriving Gatwick
at 2000 (all times local).
Marketing manager Birna Gumundsdóttir said: “We have wanted to expand into Gatwick for some time and the decision by British Airways to suspend its services to Reykjavik earlier this year means that the time is now right to do so.”
Vikki Joyce, head of sales at the airline’s UK representative, Flight Directors, added: “We are already working closely with many of the specialist tour operators to Iceland and hope that our new Gatwick service will encourage others to feature this incredible destination in their future programmes.â€
The Gatwick service will be operated by Boeing 737- 700 aircraft with 148 seats of sister company, FlyStar/Astraeus.
