Indian airline executives suspended for safety violations
India’s aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation has suspended two senior executives of AirAsia India for ‘safety violations.’
Head of Operations Manish Uppal and Head of Flight Safety Mukesh Nema have been suspended for three months.
"We had issued a show cause notice to two AirAsia India executives. It has been decided now to suspend them for a period of three months," a DGCA official said.
The probe came about after AA pilot Gaurav Taneja, who runs a popular YouTube channel, uploaded a video titled ‘Reasons behind suspension from my pilot job.’
It highlighted alleged violations of safety procedure at the budget airline.
The video gained a lot of traction in the media and with the general public leading to the eventual firing of Taneja.
