Indigenous conference explores tourism opportunities
A conference addressing the key issues that impact indigenous tourism in Australia will be held in Alice Springs from September 19 to 22.
The Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference (AITC) will also explore the opportunities that exist for culturally authentic indigenous tourism products and provide those with a common interest in indigenous tourism to meet and form new partnerships.
A range of local, national and international speakers will give participants information and advice about operating successfully in the tourism sector.
The conference has been held for the past two years and has assisted in the development, employment and training of indigenous people, bringing a positive social and economic return to Australia and, in particular, regional areas.
This year’s event will particularly focus on the issues affecting young people, exploring opportunities and the future. Young people will be encouraged to participate in a specific Youth Forum to be held on September 19.
The conference will be held at the Alice Springs Convention Centre.
