IndiGo owner wants to launch air taxis in Delhi
The parent of India’s largest airline IndiGo is planning to enter the air taxi market.
It wants to establish an air taxi eVTOL network across Delhi.
IndiGo parent InterGlobe Group has inked an agreement with California based Archer Aviation.
They plan to set up vertiport stations around Delhi to deploy the four-person Archer Midnight eVTOLs.
The partnership could see the purchase of 200 air taxis with a tentative launch date of 2026.
“We are excited about an efficient and sustainable transportation solution by introducing Archer electric aircraft to India,” said Rahul Bhatia, InterGlobe MD.
The two firms will work together to operate the aircraft, and develop the vertiport infrastructure.
“India is one of, if not the largest opportunity for eVTOL aircraft. Its largest cities face some of the greatest congestion challenges,” said Adam Goldstein, Archer CEO.
The Archer Midnight eVTOL aircraft is set to make its public debut at the Dubai Airshow next week.
