Indonesia launches interactive Islamic tourist guide

Friday, 11 Dec, 2015 0
The Indonesia tourism ministry has launched a new interactive visitor guide aimed at the global Islamic tourism market.

Despite being the world’s most populous Muslim country, Indonesia tourism is still dominated by Hindu majority Bali.

Indonesia’s tourism leaders hope to change that.

Entitled ‘Many Lands. Timeless culture. One journey’, the guide is available in digital and print and details the best attractions, shopping, halal dining and hotels around the 17,000 island archipelago.

"We want to assure the comfort of these travellers by providing information about various tourism products and services in many destinations in Indonesia, which comply with their needs and expectations to enhance their holiday experiences," said tourism minister Arief Yahya.

The guide has been produced in collaboration with online travel platform HalalTrip and is available in both English and Arabic.

"Indonesia is one of the most vibrant and diverse countries in the world with an amazing offering for Muslim travellers full of culture and vibrant energy," said Fazal Bahardeen, CEO of HalalTrip.
