International visitors to US a growing market
International visitors to the US are increasing, says the US Department of Commerce.
In the latest available figures for the month of August, according to the government, arrivals were up almost 7% from the previous year.
Said Al Frink, assistant secretary, Manufacturing and Services:
“We recorded double-digit growth from several major markets, which is good news for the US economy.”
Canadian and Mexican visitors were up by the highest percentages, though South American visitors were up 11% as well.
Arrivals from Eastern Europe were up by 15% for the first eight months of 2005.
Arrivals from the Middle East were up by 3%. And even visitation from Africa increased by 7%.
