Intrepid holds off on hike in gorilla fees
Intrepid Travel will absorb for the remainder of 2012 the US$250 increase in gorilla permits that the Rwandan Government has recently announced.
The decision will increase the cost of an individual permit to visit the gorillas from US$500 to US$750.
It is not possible to visit the gorillas without this permit. The increase takes effect from June 1, 2012.
Intrepid Travel believes it is the first to market with this promise.
In addition, it is offering 10% off trips that visit the Rwandan gorillas in 2012 for people who book before the end of May.
"This is one small way we can thank our passengers who have booked to travel with us to see the Rwandan gorillas in the second half of 2012," said Geoff Manchester, managing director of Intrepid Travel.
"Seeing the gorillas in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Many people dream of it and I hope our decision means the dream stays within reach."
