Investment firm buys stake in AmaWaterways
US investment firm L Catterton is acquiring a ‘significant’ stake in river cruise line AmaWaterways.
The firm joins founders Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst, and the Murphy family, who will all continue to have ownership in the river cruise line.
“This is an exciting new chapter for AmaWaterways,” said co-founder and CEO Schreiner.
“L Catterton brings exciting ideas on how we can work together to capitalise on a number of growth opportunities.”
L Catterton Co-Managing Partner Marc Magliacano said: “We look forward to leveraging our global network and deep expertise across travel to identify new growth opportunities and thoughtful expansion initiatives.”
AmaWaterways was founded in 2002 and operates river cruise itineraries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
L Catterton is a consumer-focused investment firm, which manages about $35 billion of equity capital.
