JAL Dreamliner leaks oil during takeoff
A JAL Boeing Dreamliner getting ready to take off at Boston Logan airport was spotted by another aircraft’s pilot spurting fuel from its wing on Tuesday.
The pilot reported the leak and Flight 7 carrying 178 passengers and 11 crew was towed to the gate and deplaned. The incident was the second in one week for a JAL-operated Dreamliner and the second incident at the same airport.
In the first incident an electrical fire was found on a similar JAL Dreamliner on Monday.
The FAA sent investigative teams to the site and when an all clear was given, the aircraft in question took off later in the day.
Airport spokespeople told the press the reason why the National Transportation Safety Board was not involved was because the incident was a maintenance issue rather than an accident. The NTSB is currently sleuthing out the causes of Monday’s electrical fire.
Boeing did not comment on the incident to the press.
