Jerez de la Frontera to be Spanish Capital of Gastronomy for 2026.
Under the slogan “Eat, Drink, Love Jerez,” Jerez de la Frontera has been awarded the prestigious title of Spanish Capital of Gastronomy for 2026.
Thanks to a city-wide effort supporting local wineries, restaurants, food producers, and traditional ‘tabancos,’ visitors are set to fall in love with Jerez’s legacy as a world-renowned producer of classic sherry wines and unforgettable regional cuisine.
To celebrate, the city will host 54 events throughout 2026, including wine and tapas gatherings, cultural tours, and food festivals. The initiative highlights responsible and sustainable culinary travel, strengthening Jerez’s position as Spain’s top destination for authentic, high-quality dining.

Each year, the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy award honors cities that go above and beyond in promoting their food and drink scene. Since its launch in 2012, the recognition has become one of the country’s biggest tourism highlights, creating major buzz around local culinary offerings. Past winners include Logroño (2012), Burgos (2013), and continues through Alicante (2025), showcasing years of standout success across the country.
As the second city in the Province of Cádiz to earn the title, preparations are already underway for Jerez de la Frontera to welcome visitors from across Spain and around the world eager to take part in the celebrations next year.
