JetBlue-Spirit airline merger likely to be blocked
The US Justice Department will likely block the $3.8 billion airline merger of Spirit airlines and JetBlue.
Several people familiar with the anti-trust investigation said the DOJ could file a suit next month to scupper the deal.
They said the investigation is still ongoing and no decision has yet been made.
The JetBlue-Spirit airline merger would make it the fifth largest US airline.
JetBlue claims the deal would create a ‘long overdue national low-fare challenger.’
