Jetstar Japan to launch first international flights
Low cost carrier Jetstar Japan will launch its first international flights between Osaka’s Kansai International Airport and Hong Kong starting 28 February 2015.
Airbus A320 aircraft will be operated on the daily service, the airline said.
"The announcement of international services is a very positive next step in the evolution of our presence in Japan as the country’s largest low cost carrier," said Jetstar Japan CEO Miyuki Suzuki.
"Just like low fares have transformed how Japanese consumers travel domestically, we are excited to stimulate new travel demand to Japan from Hong Kong and provide our Japanese customers new international options. "These services build on the international network of other Jetstar branded airlines operating to Japan."
Jetstar Japan is a joint venture partnership made up of Qantas Group, Japan Airlines, Mitsubishi Corporation and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation.
From the middle of January a codeshare agreement starts between Qantas and Jetstar Japan, which gives Qantas travelers access to nine new destinations in Japan via Narita Airport.
These destinations are Sapporo, Fukuoka, Oita, Okinawa, Osaka, Takamatsu, Matsuyama, Kumamoto and Kagoshima.
