Juventus to kick goals for Sydney
The visit of Italian Serie A giants Juventus to Sydney in August will be a shot in the arm for the visitor economy, according to Australia’s peak national industry body Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF).
Juventus will play the Foxtel A-League All Stars at ANZ Stadium on Sunday August 10.
TTF chief executive Ken Morrison said the one-off international match was a major coup for Sydney coming off the back of the successful All Stars match against Manchester United last year "that saw the ANZ Stadium sell out".
"The value of major events to this state cannot be underestimated and the major events calendar for 2014 features a range of world-class events," Morrison said.
"The Juventus match will attract visitors from interstate and overseas to see the Italian champions take on our top local talent.
"These visitors will stay in our hotels and serviced apartments, eat in our restaurants, go shopping and visit other attractions while they’re here.
"Events like this football match are a catalyst for travel, giving people a reason to plan a trip to Sydney," he added.
