Kane Pirie says May bookings could be higher than in January
VIVID Travel MD and Right to Refund founder Kane Pirie claims holiday bookings this month could be higher than in January.
He said VIVID’s new business for May is already 24% up on February as the lockdown restrictions start to ease and three-months’ of pent up demand is released.
Pirie said customers also believe that 2021 will book up early, leading to a ‘gold-rush mindset’.
Popular destinations are those that have few or no Covid-19 cases, such as New Zealand, he said.
"I am confident New Zealand will enjoy a record year and with that in mind, we have just opened our second base in Auckland." VIVID has one ‘travel designer’ in New Zealand and it is looking to recruit a second.
It is also looking to expand its UK team of ‘travel designers’ from 13 to 20 by the end of the year and plans to hire two in the US, one of whom is expected to start in September.
The company is forecasting a £10 million turnover in 2021.
