Keynote speaker announced for snow sport forum
Snow sports trade forum LISTEX 2017 has announced that Andrew Denton, chief executive of the Outdoor Industries Association, will be the keynote speaker on Thursday, September 28.
His talk about ‘The Growth Mindset’ will focus on lessons for success and growth, with a specific focus on the outdoor and snowsports industry.
His will be one of several presentations and workshops in the LISTEX Forum focusing on how the industry can try and grow after the recent ‘challenging’ winter seasons, said organisers.
On Wednesday, there will be a session from Shannon Watson, co-founder of travel growth consultancy Duplare on ‘The Path to Purchase’ and on Thursday, the day will wrap up with a session on ‘How to Structure for Growth’.
Denton said: "My keynote at LISTEX will focus on~how having the right mindset can create the right place for growth. I will look at how individuals and the industry can learn from experiences – both successes and failures. I will draw on some of my own experiences and look at the lessons I’ve learnt in 34 years in the outdoor recreation industries.
"I sold my first business in my 20s, then went on to buy, sell and run multiple successful businesses over the next thirty years. I’ve made a lot of good decisions and also had some impressive failures; I will reflect on these and try to help point the way to how you and your business can succeed."
Taking place at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 September, LISTEX will include a ‘Dragons Den’, where new businesses will pitch for investment or mentoring in front of four ‘friendly dragons’.
On Wednesday there will be an ‘Ask the Editors’ session, where the editors of all the main snowsports magazines will face questions from the floor. OnThursday, as well as the keynote from Andrew Denton, there will be a workshop on ‘The Art & Science of Content Marketing’ with specialist Iain Martin from Skipedia.
