Kirkland Uncorked Festival to sparkle with wines and culinary treats

Wednesday, 18 Jun, 2008 0

Kirkland, a thriving Eastside city 10 miles east of Seattle, perched on the waters of Lake Washington, will showcase 20 of the area’s best wineries and wine makers in its 2nd Annual Kirkland Uncorked Festival.

Taking place in Marina Park on Friday, July 18, 2008, through Sunday, July 20, 2008, over 45,000 tourists, locals and neighboring residents are expected to attend throughout the weekend. Kirkland is also known for its quaint city streets lined with unique shops, world-class art galleries and diverse northwest restaurants.

Although events will take place throughout the city, center stage will be at Kirkland’s Marina Park, located on the banks of Lake Washington. Locals and visitors are urged to come expecting to taste, hear and see all the best that Kirkland Uncorked has to offer. With a gated Wine Garden for those over 21, visitors can enjoy special tastings of an expansive variety of Washington wines along with samplings from some of Washington’s finest restaurants.

If learning more about food pairing is their interest, visitors can chat and watch as acclaimed Northwest chefs prepare their most delicious baked, fried, steamed and grilled dishes to accompany different varieties of wine. On Sunday, the same chefs will battle it out as they compete in a grilling competition for the title of Kirkland Uncorked’s Master of the Grill.

In the Tasting and Lifestyle Garden, attendees can visit with Seattle Homes and Lifestyle Magazine’s featured home and lifestyle design experts. These experts will share their knowledge and explore the latest trends in home décor and fashions.

With over 60 local artisans’ paintings, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry and more, juried by the Northwest Craft Alliance, the Artist Market is the perfect place to start. From there, a stroll around downtown will provide the opportunity to visit some of Kirkland’s world class art galleries featuring special exhibits and events of their own.

If visitors are looking to just kick back and enjoy the beauty of Lake Washington, an eclectic mix of hot Funk, Jazz and Classical bands is on the menu. Throughout the weekend Pony Boy Records will present continuous music on the Kirkland Uncorked Main Stage.

Advance ticket sales are available on the Kirkland Uncorked Web site: www.kirklanduncorked.com. For more information visit: www.explorekirkland.com
