Lastminute.com hit by “malicious fax” in City
There were few significant movements among travel and tourism shares yesterday as London’s main equity indices moved in different directions. The FTSE 100 index added 3.6 points to end the day at 5060.8, while the FTSE 250 lost a more significant 61.1 points and closed at 7234.4. Shares in lastminute.com dropped 1.25p to 106.75p after it was revealed that a “malicious fax” about the company had been circulated in the City. According to the Daily Mail the anonymous fax, which cast doubt over the company’s financial performance, has been denounced by the company as “materially inaccurate”. Lastminute.com has reportedly alerted the Financial Services Authority to the presence of the fax.
