Latest Ryanair strikes called off

Saturday, 10 Jan, 2019 0

Ryanair cabin crew staff in Spain have called off two planned 24-hour strikes, the first of which was due to start today.

After reaching a deal over pay and conditions, the USO and SITCPLA unions agreed not to strike today and on Sunday, January 13.

Cabin crew had also planned to walk out two days ago, on Tuesday January 8,  but called that strike off to allow for more talks.

The unions said in a joint statement: "The achievement of the agreement reached at dawn today is the result of a long year and a half of struggle and union actions coordinated both in the national territory and in the framework of the European Union.

"As a result of signing the agreement we will proceed immediately to the recall of the strikes scheduled for 10 and 13 January 2019.

"We will continue working tirelessly for the coming months to ensure a proper transition and normalisation of the company, always defending the interests of workers.

"Very soon all Ryanair workers in Spain will be able to fully enjoy their rights as citizens of the European Union."
