Lorraine Barnes Burton gets her own award
British Travel Awards CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton was honoured with the Association of Women Travel Executives' (AWTE) Business Impact Award, announced at the association’s Christmas lunch.
The award was presented by AWTE chairman Karen Ramirez and AWTE sponsored paralympic athlete Bethany Woodward, before an audience of over five hundred influential travel industry people.
Journalist and TV presenter Selina Scott was the guest speaker and the all profit from the event was donated to travel industry charity ‘Just a Drop’
AWTE chairman, Lingua Communications’ Karen Ramirez, said: “The AWTE Business Impact Award is presented to a female in the travel industry who has shown great innovation with positive impact in her role.
"Lorraine Barnes Burton encompasses everything that AWTE and this award stand for – a woman who has taken ownership of her role and stepped up her own game, particularly since taking the helm just four years ago.
"She has increased the integrity of the British Travel Awards through engaging credible partners and initiated new products – TravelVision and Check-in – providing highly valuable products for the industry to use in planning and marketing their businesses.
"These activities have resulted in the business going from a loss making position to a significant profit – the most commercially important part of all! To me, Lorraine is an inspirational role model CEO and a shining example of what women in the travel industry can achieve when they really take themselves on!”
