Lowcostholidays responds to CAA warning

Friday, 19 Dec, 2013 0

Lowcostholidays has reiterated its claim that its customers are adequately protected.

The company issued a statement following the Civil Aviation Authority’s warning yesterday that people should avoid booking with the operator following its decision to move its head office to Spain, because they may not be financially protected. See yesterday’s story for more details.

Lowcostholidays chief executive Paul Evans said: "What we have done is completely legal and all our customers are fully protected under the European Package Directive with the full support of the Balearic Government.

"We have the maximum bonding available under Spanish law and comply fully with EEC legislation and we believe and support all the moves towards European harmonisation."

Evans said customers were offered the chance to cancel their bookings with Lowcostholidays when it moved to Spain, yet less than 0.2% chose to do so.

Evans concludes, "When I set up this company almost 10 years ago, I wanted to offer great value flexible holidays to our customers.

"Our customers trust us and value the great priced holidays we sell.

"This is why they book with us and we want to reassure them that our move to Spain and licence is fully compliant with all applicable laws."
