Lyft hires former Obama transportation secretary
Ride sharing platform Lyft has tapped Obama’s former transportation chief Anthony Foxx as new chief policy officer and advisor.
Foxx becomes the first ex- transportation secretary to join a Silicon Valley startup but not the first from the Obama Administration to get on board with Lyft.
Former senior adviser Valerie Jarrett joined the Lyft executive board last year.
Lyft will hope to leverage Foxx’s experience on Capitol Hill to foster partnerships with lawmakers and governments around the country.
"Anthony’s unmatched experience and future-focused perspective will push us forward as we partner with cities and regulators to expand affordable mobility options, take cars off the road, and fundamentally change cities for the better," Lyft president John Zimmer said in a statement.
A former mayor of his hometown Charlotte, Foxx said he is relishing the challenges and keen to accelerate Lyft’s ‘collaborative approach to working with regulators.’
