MACAU – The Macau casino sector’s gross receipts from gaming fell 12.4 percent year-on-year to US$ 6.42 billion in the first half of this year

Macau News reported that VIP baccarat continued to be the sector’s No 1 money spinner between January and June, but its share was down three percentage points to 64 percent of all casino gaming revenues.

Casino gaming receipts accounted for 99.1 percent of the gaming and betting sector’s total receipts in the first half of this year.

The number of gaming tables reached 4,390 at the end of June, 113 more than a year ago.

Stanley Ho Hung Sun’s SJM had 19 casino licences, Galaxy had five and the Venetian and Melco Crown Gaming ( Macau) three each. Wynn Resorts (Macau) and MGM Grand Paradise had one licence each.

Back in 2004, when the de facto liberalisation of the casino sector got off the ground, the number of casino licences stood at 15, and the number of gaming tables amounted to 2,254, according to The Macau Post Daily.
