Malaysia Airlines flight makes emergency landing
A Malaysia Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Melbourne after reporting a possible engine fire.
Flight MH148 had just taken off from the Australian airport on its way to Kuala Lumpur.
Radar tracking websites showed the Airbus 330 circling the city several times before turning back.
Emergency services were called to the scene but Malaysia Airlines confirmed it made an ‘air-turn back and landed uneventfully’.
The aircraft has been grounded for investigation but the airline said preliminary inspections revealed ‘no physical evidence of fire externally’.
Melbourne Airport is operating normally.
