Authorities in the Maldives said they will take action against Air India after last week’s landing error at Male Airport.
An Air India flight carrying 106 passengers landed in error on a runway still under construction, damaging wheels of the A320 neo aircraft in the process.
The new runway is adjacent to the correct runway at the airport.
India’s regulator the Director General of Civil Aviation suspended the pilots pending its own investigation.
The new runway is under construction to allow the airport to handle larger aircraft and it measures 10,500 feet in length, significantly more than the existing parallel runway.
Although the wheels were damaged after being caught up in tarpaulin on the unfinished surface, no injuries were reported onboard.
