Man stabbed over seating dispute
Australian passenger held after fellow traveller was injured in attack
An in-flight dispute over seating may have been the cause of a passenger being stabbed on a Thai Airways flight.
Australian police say a 22-year-old man has been arrested after an incident on the flight from Bangkok into Sydney, and that a 50-year-old Australian national of Thai descent was stabbed in the neck. The weapon used to stab the man has not yet been identified, though there have been some reports that it was a plastic fork.
Though the victim was taken to hospital, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Police confirmed that passengers from the flight are being interviewed as possible witnesses. A spokesman for the airline has told reporters that the carrier is not concerned about security on its flights, despite the incident.
