Masks mandatory on Delta flights until year-end
Delta Air Lines will make passengers wear face masks until at least the end of the year.
In an email to customers CEO Ed Bastian said it will mandate the wearing of face masks for employees and customers until 31 December, and will also continue blocking the middle seat until the end of September.
"Amid all that is going on across the world, you can continue to expect an unmatched level of care from Delta," Bastian wrote.
Bastian also said Delta will have completed Covid-19 tests for virtually all employees within the next four weeks.
"When you travel, you can be confident in our commitment to getting you where you need to go safely."
The airline says it has banned future travel for more than 100 customers for refusing to keep face masks on during a flight.
It also cracked down on passengers using a medical condition as a reason not to wear a face covering.
While Delta announced it will conduct a consultation with passengers to determine whether a medical condition is a valid reason, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines said they will no longer allow medical exemptions.
