Media boss to speak at Advantage conference

Tuesday, 11 Mar, 2014 0

Ellis Watson, CEO of Scottish media group DC Thomson, has been announced as the second keynote speaker for Advantage conference in Dubai from May 14-18.

Ellis has been marketing director at The Sun newspaper, reporting directly to Rupert Murdoch, CEO of Celador International, licensing Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to 100 countries around the world before becoming managing director of Mirror Group Newspapers.

In his current role at DC Thomson, Ellis is steering a traditional, family run firm into a modern and thriving business. In the process, he has shed a third of the staff, increased turnover at the papers and taken the business’ icon The Beano from print to digital.

He will look at how a significant external shock like recession can actually be a springboard for positive change.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova has already been announced as a keynote speaker for the Advantage Conference.
