Melbourne’s Bell City chimes for MICE
Melbourne’s emerging new conference facility, the Bell City complex which opens in September, has signed its first major bookings, a 200-delegate four-day residential event in September 2008 and a 150-delegate conference-expo in October 2008.
Bell City General Manager, Troy Cuthbertson said Bell City was an important addition to Melbourne’s meetings infrastructure, catering for the small to medium MICE (Meetings Incentive Conferences Exhibitions) market.
“This is a modern and flexible conference and events facility supported by a key-brand new hotel which has extensive experience in this field in Australia and around the world,†he said. “MICE is our bread and butter!â€
Bell City offers flexible conference facilities for up to 500 delegates theatre style, 300 banquet or 250 classroom style from 14 rooms ranging in size from 15 sqm to 456 sqm.
An all-weather marquee in a central garden courtyard is a venue for morning and afternoon teas, lunches, dinners, breakfasts, cocktail functions and pre-dinner drinks.
Accommodation at Bell City is 383 quality Rydges four-star self contained Manhattan rooms in the new complex and 444 three-star studio rooms in the current building, all of which have Internet access.
The complex also offers a gymnasium, swimming pool, recreational room, convenience store, coffee bar, stand-alone public restaurant, sports bar, cafe, car parking and free shuttle bus service to the CBD.
Bell City is a landmark seven-storey redevelopment of the PANCH hospital on Bell St., Preston, 20 minutes north of the CBD, 20 minutes from Melbourne Airport via Bell Street freeway exit, five minutes from the colourful Preston community market, 10 minutes from LaTrobe University and 30 minutes from the vineyards of the picturesque Yarra Valley, ideal for conference excursions.
