Melia opens new flagship China hotel in Shanghai
Global hospitality group Melia has announced the debut of its flagship China hotel Melia Shanghai Hongqiao.
It mark’s Melia Hotels International’s third property in China, after Gran Melia Xian and Melia Jinan.
Melia Shanghai Hongqiao features 187 contemporary oriental art infused guestrooms and Merkado, a Mediterranean-Pan Asian dining venue helmed by celebrated chef Abel Lopez Reina.
"Every traveller deserves a truly uplifting experience, one that is truly personal and memorable – this is what we want our guests to feel the moment they walk through the door," said Marko Janssen, general manager of Melia Shanghai Hongqiao.
"Our service will focus on going beyond… paying attention to every detail for a personalised experience. Building on the legacy of the Melia brand, we’re incredibly thrilled to bring to life our ethos of Spanish service."
The hotel also houses YHI Spa, Meli’s signature wellness service three-bedroom Garden Villas with traditional Chinese design each set in its own garden with an al fresco lounge.
The group will continue to expand in China and expects to more than double its portfolio by 2020 with the addition of five new hotels.
