Mexican Riviera has become top cruise destination
The Mexican Riviera has grown into one of the top five cruise destinations in the past five years, says the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).
Typically, CLIA member ships call at such destinations as California’s Monterey and Catalina Island, and the Mexican ports of Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan.
“It’s no wonder that Mexican Riviera cruises continue to grow in popularity,” said Terry L. Dale, president and CEO of CLIA. The ports are bustling cities, gourmet food and culture and endless miles of beautiful beaches, he said.
Monterey is known as a golfer’s paradise while Acapulco is known for its nightlife and restaurants. Cabo San Lucas appeals to anyone seeking water-related activities.
Puerto Vallarta has more than 250 restaurants but still retains an old-fashioned village feel with cobblestone streets and blossoming bougainvillea.
