Michigan airport stabbing an ‘act of terror’
The stabbing of a police officer at a Michigan airport is being investigated as an act of terror.
Amor Ftouhi, of Quebec is being charged after airport police Lt. Jeff Neville was stabbed at Bishop International Airport in Flint early Wednesday.
FBI special investigator David Gelios described it as a ‘lone wolf’ attack.
Officer Neville was stabbed in the neck but is in stable condition and a full recovery is expected.
Following the attack the airport was placed on lockdown for several hours, officials said.
The suspect ‘came out, pulled out a knife, yelled ‘Allahu Akbar’ and stabbed Lt. Neville in the neck,’ Gelios said.
The FBI said it is not looking for any other individuals and ‘believe this to be an isolated incident’.
Ftouhi was initially charged with ‘violence at an international airport’ and additional charges may be filed.
"I want to assure all our law enforcement across the nation, any attack on someone who serves and protects our citizens will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," said attorney general Jeff Sessions.
