Middle East specialist slashes prices

Upmarket operator Cox & Kings has resumed its Egypt programme, slashing prices to entice customers back.

The operator says local staff in the country say museums and sites are all open as normal and the tourist infrastructure is back in place.

Discounts include £400 per person off the operator’s Oberoi Zahra Nile cruise, now £3081 per person, and £150 per person off its Wonders of Egypt seven night highlight tour.

Middle East and North Africa product manager Mark Stacey said: “Egyptians want to welcome tourists back to experience their hospitality and see what their country has to offer.

“March is a perfect time of year to find some winter sunshine in Egypt and the coming weeks should present a wonderful and rare opportunity to experience the great sites of Cairo and the Nile valley without the usual high number of visitors”.

To qualify for the discounts, agents must book clients before March 12 for travel anytime in 2011.

Meanwhile, Discover Egypt has returned to the destination today with flights operating into Luxor. The operator will take more than 150 people into the resort from London and Manchester.

* Egyptian tourist workers are also working hard to persuade the world that their country is safe to visit. A tour guide has grouped together with fellow workers to create a Facebook page that extols the delights of the country and how safe it now.
