Mirror, mirror on the wall….
British Travel Awards has appointed Trinity Mirror as its print, online, national and regional consumer media partner.
A far-reaching deal will see Trinity Mirror promoting BTA consumer voting across much of the Trinity Mirror portfolio, including five national newspapers and major regional titles.
As part of the partnership the publications will promote voting and provide exposure for BTA sponsors and shortlisted companies – both editorially and through an advertising campaign to run from when voting opens on July 1 until September 30.
The five national newspapers are the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Sunday People, Daily Record and Sunday Mail. Key regional titles include the Liverpool Echo, Manchester Evening News, Newcastle Chronicle and Western Mail.
Last year, Trinity Mirror’s newspapers reached 17 million readers and 30 million unique users.
BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "We are very excited to be working with Trinity Mirror. The reach of the publications we will be working with is huge and isn’t just concentrated in the South of England – we want to receive consumer votes from the North of England, from Wales, from Scotland – we want the British Travel Awards to be truly representative of the people of Great Britain.
"Working with the Trinity Mirror will also bring added value for our sponsors and for BTA shortlisted companies who will now receive more exposure through our advertising and editorial campaigns. Over one million votes were cast last year to determine the 2012 BTA winners and we are confident we will exceed this with the help of Trinity Mirror."
The partnership will mean voting will be promoted on the travel pages of The Mirror and Sunday Mirror.
It will also see the travel sales team strengthen their relationship with the travel trade with presence at BTA events throughout the year., including the BTA lunch at the ITT conference, being held this year in Abu Dhabi.
Trinity Mirror’s travel sales and editorial teams will also be out in force at the media reception held before the Gala Dinner being held on October 31 to announce the winners of the 2013 BTAs. Also in attendance will be longstanding media partners Global Radio Group, Unravel Travel TV and travel industry media partner TravelMole.
