Mississippi casinos re-opening

Sunday, 30 Nov, 2005 0

Three of Mississippi’s storm-damaged casinos set re-opening dates by the end of the year.

The Imperial Palace, the Isle of Capri and the Palace Casino plan to open later this month.

Owen Nitz, a member of the family trust that owns the Imperial Palace, says the casino and its hotel amenities will be completely revamped, said the Associated Press

“It’s going to be a mindblower,” he told the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

The Isle of Capri is putting its casino inside its new hotel tower.

Some of the coast casinos are scaling down.

Slot machines, for example, will initially decrease at the Palace Casino from 1,170 to 820. Employment there will also be more than cut in half, going from 975 to 400.
