Monarch launches ‘no-frills’ fares with the frills
Monarch Scheduled has thrown down the gauntlet to no-frills carriers by introducing reduced winter fares to Faro and Malaga.
Monarch Scheduled is offering return fares from £75 between Luton and both Malaga and Faro, and return fares from £95 from Manchester to both destinations. The fares are available on flights booked before 21 October, valid for travel between November 4 and December 19 2002.
The carrier faces direct competition from easyJet, which is offering web fares* of around £60 on the Luton to Malaga route for flights departing at antisocial times of the day. Further competition comes from easyJet’s partner Go, which is offering web fares* of around £80 to fly from Stansted to Faro and Malaga. No-frills carrier, bmibaby also flies to Malaga and Faro, out of East Midlands airport, and offers winter web fares* of around £99 return.
Monarch Scheduled has one up on its no-frills competition, as it’s fares include meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, newspapers and inflight entertainment.
Agents can book tickets on the dedicated website, or call 08700 405040.
*All fares taken from airline websites on 10 October for travel to Faro or Malaga from 14-19 November 2002.
