Monarch launching Gatwick scheduled services
Monarch Scheduled is launching services out of Gatwick to Spain and Portugal, as part of its plan to grow 75 percent in 2003.
Monarch already operates charter services out of Gatwick, but claims there is demand for low cost schedule services. Commercial director, Jonathon Crick said: “Gatwick is the UK’s biggest holiday airport and as such is a key marketplace for Monarch Scheduled as a leading leisure carrier”.
From May 2003, Monarch will offer daily schedule flights to Alicante and Malaga, and three flights a week to Faro. Fares will start from £49 one-way. Agents get seven percent commission.
The airline does not call itself a no-frills carrier. It offers hot meals and complimentary drinks from the bar on flights, plus seats can be pre-booked free-of-charge. Mr Crick said: “Monarch Scheduled is not a budget airline. Our customers have told us they want a full service at an economical price”.
Monarch Scheduled offers flights out of London Luton and Manchester to destinations including Tenerife, Gibraltar, Menorca and Palma.
